Aliff Sor Dechapan Wins ONE Interim Strawweight Muay Thai Title
On July 24, ONE Championship staged The Inner Circle 23 at Bangkok’s Lumpinee Stadium. In the main event, 22‑year‑old Malaysian fighter Aliff Sor Dechapan knocked out 42‑year‑old Thai legend Sam‑A Gaiyanghadao in the fifth round, capturing the ONE Interim Strawweight Muay Thai World Title. The stoppage came at 1:09 of round five, earning Aliff a US$50,000 performance bonus and making him the first Malaysian to win a ONE world title.
The victory positions Aliff for a unification bout with the division’s reigning champion Prajanchai PongSuphan PK. The card also featured a decisive kickboxing win for Panpayak Jitmuangnon over Anuar Cisneros and Ryujin Nasukawa’s debut knockout against Thongpoon PK Saenchai.
Sam‑A, who has competed for over three decades, said his comeback was supported by his wife’s encouragement, while Aliff highlighted his reach advantage and aggressive game plan in pre‑fight comments.
