Sam Allardyce weighs in on Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal tension

Former England manager Sam Allardyce has commented on the ongoing tension between Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal national team coach Jorge Jesus. Following Ronaldo's decision to leave the national team training camp, which resulted in a long suspension, Allardyce suggested that the coaching staff must eventually move on from the 41-year-old player.

Speaking on the ‘No Tippy Tappy Football’ podcast, Allardyce described Jesus as an ‘old school’ coach who is direct and blunt. He noted that while Ronaldo remains one of the greatest players, the time may have come for the team to transition. Allardyce suggested that a coach must eventually sit the player down and explain that they are no longer at the required level for the current system, a difficult but necessary step for the squad's future.
