Critics and observers note that public concerns often center on tangible impacts such as rising electricity costs, water usage, and local job availability.

In Europe, the primary obstacle is physical infrastructure rather than public sentiment. In Denmark, the grid operator Energinet paused new connections due to extreme capacity constraints; the country currently holds roughly 60GW of queued projects against a national peak demand of approximately 7GW.
