Sam Altman wins dismissal of sister's sexual abuse lawsuit
A US federal judge has dismissed a civil lawsuit filed by Annie Altman against her brother, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. The lawsuit, which was brought in a St. Louis court in January 2025, accused Sam Altman of sexual abuse and rape occurring between 1997 and 2006.
US District Judge Zachary Bluestone dismissed the case after Annie Altman refused to undergo an independent medical examination, despite prior warnings that failure to comply would result in the dismissal of the proceedings.
In related legal filings, Sam Altman has denied all allegations and accused his sister of using the litigation to gain social media engagement and followers. He requested that the court order her to destroy confidential deposition recordings and transcripts, alleging she had shared portions of her deposition on platforms such as X and TikTok.
The Altman family has stated that Annie Altman has mental health challenges and has received financial support, while Sam Altman suggested the accusations began after the family declined her requests for more funds.
