Sam Burgess criticizes Super League play-off schedule

Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess has criticized the Super League play-off schedule as ‘unacceptable’ following his team’s victory over Hull KR. Despite finishing third in the regular season, Warrington faces a six-day turnaround before their semi-final match against the Leeds Rhinos at Headingley.

Burgess expressed frustration over the discrepancy in rest periods, noting that fourth and fifth-placed teams, such as Wakefield Trinity, receive an eight-day turnaround. He questioned the logic of the scheduling, stating, “How do you get a six-day turnaround when you finish third?” and remarked that the game needs to improve regarding accountability.

While expressing dissatisfaction with the administration, Burgess noted that his squad has developed mental resilience through similar short turnarounds during the season. He emphasized that the team is prepared to adapt and move forward with their upcoming fixture.
