Sam Curran ruled out of England season after groin surgery
England all-rounder Sam Curran has been ruled out for the remainder of the cricket season following surgery to treat a groin injury. The procedure, scheduled for Friday, ends hopes of a potential Test recall during the ongoing series against Pakistan.
National selector Marcus North had previously identified Curran as a key player of interest to provide balance to the team following the retirement of Ben Stokes. However, the injury—which also caused Curran to miss the Indian Premier League earlier this year—will prevent him from participating in upcoming white-ball matches against Sri Lanka and his commitments with Surrey.
In a separate development, Surrey all-rounder Will Jacks is also set to miss upcoming County Championship action after undergoing an appendectomy, though he may still be available for England’s white-ball series against Sri Lanka.
