Sam Myers serves as spotter for Indy 500 champion Felix Rosenqvist

Sam Myers, a Centerburg‑area graduate now residing in Knox County, spent his third year as a spotter for Meyer Shank Racing during the 2023 Indianapolis 500. Positioned on Turn Three, Myers relayed real‑time information to driver Felix Rosenqvist and the crew, helping the Swedish driver secure the win after a red‑flag restart and a one‑lap shootout.

Myers described the race as "an emotional roller coaster" and emphasized the need for concise communication, noting his custom $1,400 headset and the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) approach. He explained that spotters act as "the big set of eyes" for drivers, warning of incidents, flag conditions, debris, and pit strategies. By providing clear, timely updates, Myers contributed to Rosenqvist’s historic victory in the 110th running of the Indy 500.
