Sam Smith announces new album ‘Hazel Eyes’

British singer-songwriter Sam Smith has announced the release of their fifth studio album, titled ‘Hazel Eyes’, scheduled for August 21. During an appearance on ‘The New Yorker Radio Hour’, Smith described the project as a ‘love letter’ to their fiancé, fashion designer Christian Cowan.

Smith noted that the album is inspired by their three-year relationship. The artist expressed that writing from a place of happiness and love presented a new creative challenge, contrasting with the themes of earlier works like ‘In the Lonely Hour’. Smith stated, ‘I realized that channeling real love into art fulfilled me and made me a deeper artist.’

The album title refers to the eye color of Cowan. Smith also revealed that the first track, ‘Everlasting Love’, was written the night before their very first date. This release follows the 2023 project ‘Gloria’ and marks a new chapter in the artist's career.
