Sam Son 220 kV substation project targets December 2026 completion

The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) is accelerating the construction of the 220 kV Sam Son substation and its connecting transmission lines, with a target to energize the project by December 2026.

Located in Nam Sam Son, Thanh Hoa province, the project includes two 250 MVA autotransformers and a 40.1 km double-circuit transmission line connecting the 500 kV Thanh Hoa substation to the Sam Son substation. While site clearance for the substation and most tower foundations has been completed, two specific areas in Dong Quang ward and Quang Ninh commune remain critical bottlenecks.

In Dong Quang, one household has yet to agree on compensation for structures, while in Quang Ninh, several cases are awaiting inheritance procedures and bank confirmations. Authorities aim to complete site clearance for these remaining sections by October 5, 2026, to ensure the project remains on schedule.
