Uttar Pradesh politics intensifies ahead of 2027 elections
Political tensions are escalating in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, marked by internal party discipline issues, intense visual warfare, and accusations of technological misuse.
Following a heated verbal altercation between senior leaders during a meeting in Lucknow, the Samajwadi Party (SP) dissolved its district executive committees and frontal organizations in Etah and Kasganj. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav addressed the conflict, attributing the behavior to the arrogance of wealth.
Simultaneously, a visual battle has emerged. Posters featuring prominent figures like Atiq Ahmed and Azam Khan have appeared across several cities, targeting Yadav with slogans linking him to criminal elements. In response, SP has accused the BJP of using generative AI and deepfakes for political mudslinging.
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has also entered the fray, criticizing the SP’s ‘PDA Chariot’ for its color scheme, which she claims resembles the saffron of the BJP/RSS rather than the SP’s traditional red. Mayawati further claimed that Muslim voters, previously a stronghold for the SP, are shifting toward the BSP, similar to trends observed among Brahmin voters.
