Samajwadi Party faces internal unrest and political ambitions in Gorakhpur
Internal friction surfaced within the Samajwadi Party during a press conference in Gorakhpur. A dispute regarding seating arrangements escalated into a physical altercation. Former district president Nagina Sahni accused supporters of senior leader Anshuman Singh of behaving rudely, slapping her, and issuing threats. The incident caused chaos during the event, which was organized by District President Brajesh Gautam.
Separately, Shyam Sundar Chauhan, a suspended police constable from the 1994 batch, has expressed interest in contesting elections on a Samajwadi Party ticket from Sant Kabir Nagar. Chauhan was suspended following a long period of unauthorized absence from his duties at the Dial-112 unit in Gorakhpur. Despite being under departmental investigation, he attended a party event to seek support, stating his desire to enter politics to better serve the people.
