Samajwadi Party MP questions BJP's defense of Election Commission Chief
Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ramji Lal Suman has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the SIR controversy, questioning why the ruling party appears desperate to defend Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.
Suman stated that allegations from two of the CEC's associates—claiming that objections are being ignored in favor of unilateral decisions—have damaged the perception of the Election Commission's transparency and impartiality. He suggested that the BJP's defense of the CEC implies the official is acting on the party's instructions.
Additionally, the SP leader commented on the police clearance given to Champat Rai in the Ram Mandir donation theft case, expressing skepticism toward the Uttar Pradesh SIT investigation. Regarding the I.N.D.I. Alliance meeting, Suman confirmed that the Samajwadi Party will participate, even if national president Akhilesh Yadav is unavailable.
