Samajwadi Party MPs claim shifting Dalit support toward Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi Party (SP) lawmakers have made several claims regarding the shifting political landscape in India, specifically concerning Dalit voter trust and opposition dynamics.

MP Awadhesh Prasad stated that the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has lost its way under Mayawati and suggested that Dalit voters are increasingly placing their trust in Akhilesh Yadav. Prasad also addressed the 'Vande Mataram' controversy, describing the anthem as a symbol of unity in diversity, and declined to comment on internal BSP family matters involving Akash Anand.

In a separate statement, SP MP Harendra Malik responded to criticisms from Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar. Malik claimed that Rajbhar’s recent remarks against the Samajwadi Party are a positive sign for the SP, drawing parallels to Rajbhar’s previous criticisms of the BJP before joining their coalition. Malik further accused the BJP and its allies of attempting to create a communal atmosphere and called for strict legal action regarding recent incidents of communal posters in Muzaffarnagar.
