Samaín celebrations planned for Redondela and Pontevedra

Various towns in the Pontevedra region are preparing for Samaín and Halloween festivities.

In Redondela, activities scheduled for October 31 include a ‘Tunnel of Terror’ at the Pexegueiro river walk, recommended for those over 12 or accompanied by adults. The town will also host the ‘Subumbra’ parade by Troula Animación, featuring creatures, music, and pyrotechnics through the streets. Additionally, workshops for pumpkin carving and makeup will be held at the Xunqueira and Chapela multipurpose centers.

Pontevedra will host ‘La Noite dos Calacús,’ which includes guided tours of the Santo Amaro cemetery and the traditional ‘Procesión das Ánimas.’ This year’s event incorporates a social message against gender-based violence, utilizing purple decorations in observance of the upcoming International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Local bakeries are also reviving the tradition of ‘pan de ánimas,’ offering seasonal breads made with ingredients like pumpkin and chestnut.
