Samaná, Colombia to build new El Centenario Cultural Center
The municipality of Samaná in the Caldas department will construct a new cultural facility called the Centro Cultural El Centenario. Funding of 8.222 million Colombian pesos has been secured, with the Gobernación de Caldas and the Alcaldía de Samaná each contributing half through the Sistema General de Regalías.
The center will occupy about 1,658 m² near the town’s main park and will feature a 200‑seat auditorium, multi‑purpose event hall, exhibition rooms, community meeting spaces, a café, parking and universal‑access facilities. A permanent hall will preserve the town’s historical memory, focusing on the legacy of the armed conflict and social reconstruction. Sustainable design elements, including rain‑water capture, are also planned.
