Samanta Schweblin wins Premio Malaparte literary award

Argentine author Samanta Schweblin has been named the winner of the Premio Malaparte, an international literary award presented annually on the island of Capri.

Schweblin, who currently resides in Berlin, is primarily recognized for her short stories. Her win marks a departure from the award's historical trend of honoring novelists. The jury cited her ability to explore themes of anxiety, fear, and unease as a decisive factor in their selection. Her most recent work, 'Il buon male', is a collection of short stories published by Einaudi.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place during the first weekend of October, specifically on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4.
