Samantha Busch thanks NASCAR community after Kyle Busch's passing

Two‑time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch died on May 21, 2026, at age 41 from severe pneumonia that progressed to sepsis. In the weeks that followed, his widow Samantha Busch posted a series of heartfelt Instagram messages expressing gratitude to the NASCAR family.

She highlighted the support of the “NASCAR wives,” teammates and team owners such as Richard Childress and Joe Gibbs, and fans who sent condolence cards and created memorials at tracks nationwide. Samantha wrote, “The NASCAR wives, thank you for showing up with meals … you loved on our children,” and added that fans’ prayers and stories helped the Busch family cope.

Richard Childress retired the iconic No. 8 on his cars in Kyle’s honor, promising to keep it available for their son Brexton if he ever races. Memorials featuring flowers, letters and Kyle’s memorabilia appeared at Daytona, Charlotte and other venues, and a public ceremony is scheduled for Oct 9 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Donations have flowed into the Samantha and Kyle Busch Bundle of Joy Fund to support the family.
