Samantha Irvin to reach free agency following WWE non-compete

Former WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin, now using her real name Samantha Johnson, is set to become a free agent later this month. Her departure from WWE in October 2024 triggered a two-year non-compete clause, which differs from the standard 90-day paid termination period typically given to released talent.

Reports indicate there has been mutual interest between Irvin and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) regarding a potential role. Irvin is married to AEW wrestler Ricochet and has maintained a positive relationship with the promotion, appearing backstage at several events. However, sources suggest she may not join AEW immediately upon the expiration of her clause.

Irvin has previously expressed a desire to transition away from announcing into other roles, such as a manager or on-screen character. Since leaving WWE, she has also focused on her music career.
