Samantha Morton and Esmé Creed-Miles potential Oscar rivals

Actresses Samantha Morton and Esmé Creed-Miles are currently being considered for the Best Supporting Actress category at the 2027 Oscars, which could mark the first time a mother and daughter compete against each other in the same category.

Morton, 49, is featured in Christopher Nolan’s film ‘The Odyssey’, where she plays the goddess Circe. According to predictions from Gold Derby, Morton is ranked second among favorites for the category, trailing Anne Hathaway. Creed-Miles, 26, stars in a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s ‘Sense and Sensibility’, directed by Georgia Oakley. While Creed-Miles currently sits at 17th in the predictions, her standing may shift following the film’s release.

If both actresses receive nominations from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, they will make cinematic history. Morton has previously received two Academy Award nominations for ‘Little Voice’ and ‘Dreamer’.
