Samantha Strable sentenced for Wyoming hunting violation

Samantha Strable, an influencer known online as Sam Jones, has been sentenced in a Wyoming court for a hunting violation. Strable pleaded guilty to hunting without a guide, resulting in a suspended 180-day jail sentence and 12 months of probation. She was also ordered to pay approximately $800 in fines and court costs.

Strable initially faced eight separate charges, including allegations of hunting without a license, hunting during a closed season, and several counts of fraud or false-swearing regarding her residence. Prosecutors dropped seven of these charges as part of a plea deal. Her attorney, Nate Jeppsen, stated that while his client did not intentionally attempt to violate Wyoming game laws, she “should have been aware” of her responsibilities under state law.

While Strable gained international notoriety in March 2025 following a viral video in which she was seen handling a baby wombat in Australia, the Wyoming legal proceedings are unrelated to that incident.
