Samarinda officials urge central government to address fuel quota cuts

The Samarinda City Council (DPRD) is urging the East Kalimantan Provincial Government and the Samarinda City Government to petition the central government regarding significant cuts to subsidized fuel (BBM) quotas.

Commission III Chairman Deni Hakim Anwar reported that approved quotas are often only half of what is requested by the region. For example, a request for 1,000 KL may only be granted 500 KL. This discrepancy has led to long queues at gas stations in Samarinda, as the supply fails to meet the needs of over 800,000 vehicles in the city. Local officials are calling for the central government to clarify the reasons for these cuts and to ensure regional fuel needs are met to prevent ongoing shortages.
