Samastipur man arrested for murder inspired by film Drishyam

A man in Samastipur, Bihar, has been arrested for the murder of his father, Raghuveer Sahni, allegedly inspired by the film ‘Drishyam’. The accused, Shiv Shankar Sahni, traveled approximately 2,000 kilometers from Surat, Gujarat, to his village in the Halai police station area to carry out the crime.

According to police reports, the motive was a dispute over land. On the night of July 26, the accused entered his home through a back door and killed his father with an axe while he was sleeping outside. To evade detection, the suspect switched off his mobile phone in Surat to create a false location trail in Gujarat. However, a phone call made to his wife just before switching the device off provided technical evidence that contradicted his alibi.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed following the incident. Investigators tracked the suspect through tower locations and dump data, eventually leading to his arrest in Surat. The suspect reportedly admitted to planning the murder to mimic the tactics seen in the film to mislead law enforcement.
