Sambhal authorities issue notices over temple-mosque dispute

Authorities in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, have issued legal notices to four individuals following a dispute involving a temple-mosque conflict and allegations of provocative speech. The individuals named include Zafar Ali of the Shahi Jama Masjid Intizamia Committee, former BJP regional vice president Rajesh Singhal, Mamlukurrahman Bark, and AIMIM leader Shakeel Ahmed.

The administration's action follows police reports from the Sambhal and Nakhasa stations, which indicated that inflammatory statements made on social media and public platforms posed a threat to communal peace and law and order. The tension escalated after Rajesh Singhal made remarks during a Ramlila event, stating that temples would replace mosques in Sambhal.

All four individuals are required to appear before the City Magistrate's court on October 3 to present their side. The notice also requires them to respond to a demand for a 20,000 rupee bond or bail to ensure peace is maintained for a period of six months.
