Sami Frashëri: Ideologue of the Albanian National Awakening

Sami Frashëri is recognized as a prominent ideologue of the Albanian national movement and a key figure of the Albanian National Awakening. As an intellectual and educator, his literary works were deeply connected to the ideals of national liberation and the development of Albanian culture and education.

His contributions to the Albanian language include the publication of the ‘Abetare e gjuhës shqipe’ (1886), ‘Shkronjëtore e gjuhës shqipe’ (a grammar book, 1886), and ‘Dheshkronja’ (geography, 1888). He also worked on an Albanian dictionary and authored the well-known novel ‘Dashuria e Talatit me Fitneten’, which was first published in Istanbul in 1872.
