Samik Bhatta: BJP ready to debate, opposition wasting Parliament time
West Bengal BJP chief Samik Bhatta criticised opposition members for turning parliamentary time into a platform for non‑issues during the monsoon session of the Indian Parliament. He said the BJP is prepared to discuss substantive legislation, but the opposition is “wasting the House’s time” by focusing on the absence of Home Minister Amit Shah.
Bhatta defended the government’s record, urging all parties to cooperate on key bills such as the pending Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) legislation. He noted that Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju had met with Rahul Gandhi on floor‑management matters and reiterated the government’s commitment to pass the FCRA bill.
The leader also highlighted the importance of the handloom sector, referencing National Handloom Day and a video message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He called for collective effort to protect the livelihoods of artisans in West Bengal’s handloom and weaving communities.
