Samini London boat party cancelled due to overcrowding

The ‘White Night on the Thames’ Summer Boat Party, featuring reggae-dancehall musician Samini, was cancelled on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Blackfriars Pier in London due to overcrowding.

Police clarified that the cancellation was initiated by event organisers rather than law enforcement. According to an officer on the scene, the vessel became overweight after individuals allegedly bypassed security and boarded without tickets, pushing the boat beyond its permitted capacity.

The incident caused significant frustration among ticket holders who experienced long delays at the pier. Some attendees reported waiting for several hours before being asked to disembark. The cancellation has prompted calls for refunds and renewed discussions regarding crowd control and event planning for Ghanaian entertainment events in the United Kingdom.
