Former England all-rounder Samit Patel has lauded Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their exceptional skills and leadership. Speaking on the sidelines of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2026, Patel described Kohli as the ‘master of a chase,’ highlighting his composure and ability to adjust his pace to match match demands following Kohli's achievement of surpassing 15,000 runs in ODI cricket.

Patel also commended Rohit Sharma, calling him a ‘powerful leader’ and one of India’s best, noting the dynamic firepower he provides at the top of the order. Regarding the ‘Fab Four’ debate, Patel identified his preferred group as Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, and Steve Smith.

Looking ahead to the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe, Patel predicted that India, Australia, England, and South Africa would be the semi-finalists.
