Samkani Camp to open luxury Airstream suites in Bolivia

A&K Sanctuary has announced the opening of Samkani Camp, a new luxury boutique accommodation located on Bolivia’s Salar de Uyuni, scheduled for late 2027. The camp will be situated approximately 20 to 30 kilometers away from other human activity to provide guests with direct access to the salt flat’s unique landscapes.

The camp will be constructed entirely from Airstreams, featuring five architect-designed suites and a sixth Airstream that will serve as a central dining and lounge area. The interiors of the self-contained suites are expected to include blue Bolivian marble and chrome detailing.

Named after the Aymara word for ‘the one who dreams,’ the camp aims to leverage the region's clear night skies for stargazing. Guests will have access to over 30 regional experiences, including guided visits to volcanic caves and remote islands. The design of the mobile camp draws on the company’s previous experience with low-impact operations in Africa.
