Sammi Awuku denies reports of EOCO arrest
Sammi Awuku, the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, has denied reports claiming he was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Saturday, August 15.
Awuku addressed the allegations in a social media video recorded in Kumasi on Sunday, August 16. He stated that the claims were false, noting that he was participating in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) regional elections in the Eastern Region during the time the alleged arrest took place.
Previous reports had suggested that EOCO detained Awuku regarding suspected corruption and financial irregularities stemming from his former role as Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA). These reports indicated the investigation focused on financial transactions and activities conducted during his tenure at the Authority.
