Sammy Gravano details decision to testify against John Gotti

Former Gambino crime family underboss Sammy ‘The Bull’ Gravano has detailed the reasons behind his decision to cooperate with federal authorities and testify against John Gotti. In a recent interview on the ‘Hang Out with Sean Hannity’ podcast, Gravano explained that he turned on Gotti after realizing Gotti’s legal team intended to make him the ‘fall guy’ in the Paul Castellano murder case.

Gravano recounted the 1985 assassination of Paul Castellano, described as the ‘boss of bosses,’ outside a Manhattan steak house. He noted that the brazen hit was a pivotal moment that allowed Gotti to rise to power within the Gambino family. Gravano also recalled being approached by associate Angelo Ruggiero regarding the plot to eliminate Castellano.

After serving as Gotti’s underboss, Gravano flipped in 1991, admitting to his involvement in 19 murders. His subsequent testimony was instrumental in securing a life sentence for Gotti in 1992 on charges including murder and racketeering.
