David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen Reunite at TEDxFargo Amid Tour Cancellations

Former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth cancelled the majority of his 2026 U.S. solo tour, leaving only a performance at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip on August 7. No official explanation was given, but low ticket sales were widely reported.

On July 30, Roth and drummer Alex Van Halen will share a stage for the first time since Van Halen’s final concert on October 4, 2015. The reunion will take place at the TEDxFargo event in Fargo, North Dakota, where they will sit with Los Angeles artist Robert Vargas for a moderated conversation titled “Three icons. One stage. One conversation you won’t want to miss.” The talk is not a musical performance and will be streamed online after the event.

Sammy Hagar, Roth’s former Van Halen bandmate and long‑time rival, posted a video message expressing sympathy for the cancelled dates and inviting Roth to join his “Best of All Worlds” Las Vegas residency in September. Hagar’s invitation underscores their historic rivalry and offers Roth a chance to appear onstage in a different setting.
