Samoa Joe reveals landing Twisted Metal role hours after WWE release

Professional wrestler Samoa Joe recently shared details regarding a pivotal moment in his career, revealing that he secured a starring role in the Peacock series ‘Twisted Metal’ just four hours after being released by WWE in January 2022.

Speaking at Grace Family Church in Tampa, Florida, Joe recounted a period of significant professional instability. Following a serious concussion that forced him away from in-ring competition and into a commentary role, he experienced two separate releases from WWE. The second departure occurred in January 2022 due to changes in the company's corporate structure within the NXT division.

Joe described the difficulty of the situation, noting that he had informed his wife of the firing before receiving a call from a friend he had not spoken to in 15 years. This contact led to the audition for ‘Twisted Metal,’ where he plays the character Sweet Tooth. Following his time with WWE, Joe joined AEW in April 2022.
