Samobor invests in education with new school and student subsidies

The city of Samobor is implementing significant educational investments ahead of the new school year. The city has opened the new Bogumil Toni Elementary School building, located on the site of the former Taborec military barracks. Valued at 8.6 million euros, this is the first new school built in Samobor in over 50 years. The modern facility can accommodate over 400 students across 20 classrooms and features energy-efficient systems, including heat pumps and solar panels.

In addition to infrastructure, the city has allocated 625,000 euros to support students. This includes 460,000 euros to fully fund workbooks and educational materials for approximately 3,000 primary school students. Furthermore, the city provides a one-time 200 euro grant for high school students to assist with textbook costs and allocates 165,000 euros to subsidize transportation for roughly 800 high schoolers, including half-price ZET transit passes.
