Samos police arrest Turkish national with forged travel documents

Authorities in Samos have arrested a Turkish national in possession of forged travel documents. The arrest followed a coordinated operation by the Samos Port Authority security officers, which included discreet surveillance of the suspect after he arrived on the island via a flight from Athens.

Officers monitored the individual until he met with other persons in Samos town, where he allegedly intended to deliver the fraudulent documents to migrants. A pursuit through the streets ensued before security personnel successfully apprehended the suspect.

The seized documents have been sent for forensic examination to determine their origin and method of manufacture. Investigators are currently looking into whether the arrest is linked to a larger organized criminal network involved in the trafficking and distribution of forged identification and travel papers.
