Sampadi to be developed into a Smart Town within five years

Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg has announced plans to develop Sampadi into a ‘Smart Town’ over the next five years. The development will focus on organic planning to integrate modern facilities and information technology, serving as both a regional attraction and a site for resettlement programs.

The growth of Sampadi is expected to be bolstered by its proximity to Trombol, which is set to host an i-CATS University College campus specializing in aerospace and technical fields. The Premier noted that the presence of higher education institutions often acts as a catalyst for surrounding regional development.

Additionally, the completion of the Batang Rambungan Bridge is expected to improve connectivity and further support the area’s economic and infrastructural integration.
