Sampdoria defender David Zec hails Tjas Begic as key player for club and Slovenia

Defender David Zec, a 2000‑born Slovenian playing for Holstein Kiel, said he has known Tjas Begic for about five years, dating back to their time together at Celje, and even served as his wedding witness. Zec praised Begic’s immediate impact since joining Sampdoria in January, noting that the player felt at home from day one and has become a decisive factor in the team’s push for promotion to Serie A. Sampdoria exercised a buy‑out from Parma and extended Begic’s contract to 2030, hoping he will be a leading force in the club’s ambitions.

Zec also highlighted Begic’s recent debut for the senior Slovenia national team, describing him as a potential cornerstone for the nation’s future European and World Cup campaigns.
