Sampdoria hires Luca Gotti as coach and names Mathias Declercq communications director

Sampdoria confirmed that negotiations with former Parma coach Fabio Pecchia fell through and the club has entered talks with former Udinese, Spezia and Lecce manager Luca Gotti to lead the team in the upcoming Serie B season. The coaching search follows earlier staff changes, including the departure of Davide Possanzini.

On 13 July 2026 the club announced that Belgian media professional Mathias Declercq, previously communication head at R.S.C. Anderlecht, will take over as Sampdoria’s director of communications. Declercq will oversee media relations, sponsor partnerships and the club’s external communication strategy.
