Sampdoria’s Coaching Sanctions Overturned by Italy’s Sports Arbitration Body

The Italian National Olympic Committee’s (CONI) College of Guarantee accepted the first ground of appeal filed by U.C. Sampdoria and annulled the disciplinary bans previously imposed on former first‑team coach Salvatore Foti and former assistant coach Angelo Gregucci. The 10‑day suspensions handed down by the Federal National Tribunal and confirmed by the Federal Appeals Court were declared “absorbed,” effectively wiping out the sanctions. The decision also nullified related penalties against former club president Matteo Manfredi and former CEO Jesper Fredberg, and ordered reimbursement of legal costs amounting to €2,000 to the appellants. The ruling restores the coaching staff’s eligibility and removes the disciplinary records from the club’s history.
