Sampdoria reaches agreement to sign Belgian midfielder Yari Verschaeren

Sampdoria has reached an agreement to sign Belgian midfielder Yari Verschaeren on a free transfer. The 25-year-old, a former Anderlecht player and seven-time Belgian international, is expected to travel to Genoa for a medical examination.

Sports CEO Jesper Fredberg, who previously worked with Verschaeren at Anderlecht, reportedly secured the deal after an initial rejection of earlier offers. The player, who has been without a club since leaving Anderlecht, is expected to sign a three-year contract worth approximately 1.1 million euros gross per season.

The signing coincides with the 80th anniversary of the Serie B club. Verschaeren's arrival follows the club's pursuit of several targets, including the recent closure of negotiations for Nicola Mosti.
