Sampdoria bolsters defense with Mbabu, Delli Carri, and Massolo

UC Sampdoria has completed several defensive reinforcements to bolster its squad following a series of injuries to players like Viti and Esposito.

Swiss defender Kevin Mbabu has joined the club on a contract lasting until June 2028. Having previously played for clubs such as Newcastle United, Wolfsburg, and Fulham, the 31-year-old arrives as a free agent. Reports suggest his physical condition will be closely monitored by staff as he has not participated in a full pre-season.

Additionally, Filippo Delli Carri joins from Monza on a loan deal through June 2027, which includes a conditional obligation to purchase. The 27-year-old central defender brings experience from Serie A and Serie B.

Completing the defensive updates, goalkeeper Samuele Massolo has returned to Sampdoria on a permanent deal from LR Vicenza, signing until June 2028.
