SamPyo Industry unveils climate‑resilient concrete for heat and rain

SamPyo Industry, a subsidiary of SamPyo Group, held a demonstration on 27 March at the S&I Center in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, to test two new special‑concrete products designed for extreme weather. The products – BlueCon Rain OK, a rain‑tolerant mix, and BlueCon Keep Slump, a high‑temperature‑resistant mix developed jointly with Hyundai Engineering & Construction – were poured under simulated heavy rainfall (over 5 mm per hour on a 0.5 m structure) and under heat conditions exceeding 35 °C with transport times of more than four hours.

Tests showed the BlueCon Keep Slump maintained workability more than 2.5 times longer than ordinary concrete in high‑heat conditions, while the BlueCon Rain OK demonstrated stable strength and separation characteristics despite intense simulated rain. SamPyo Industry said the new mixes aim to minimise quality loss and structural defects caused by climate‑change‑driven heat waves and sudden downpours, and expects broader adoption of such climate‑resilient materials and smart construction technologies across the industry.
