Sam's Club in Wuxi faces scrutiny over customer fruit sorting incident

A Sam's Club location in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, has come under scrutiny following a viral video showing customers violating store policies. The footage, dated September 22, depicts two individuals, suspected to be a mother and daughter, opening multiple boxes of kiwi fruit to select larger, undamaged pieces and consolidate them into a single box.

Sam's Club maintains a policy that fruit must be purchased by the whole box and cannot be sorted or picked through individually. Store staff responded to the incident by stating that the kiwi fruit is sold at a uniform price per box and that the weight and size of the fruit are generally consistent.

In response to the public outcry, the retailer stated it will increase patrols in the affected areas to prevent similar occurrences. Staff have also advised customers to notify employees immediately if they witness such behavior in the store.
