Samsat Kalianda office fire causes panic during tax payment queues

An electrical fire broke out at the Samsat Kalianda office in South Lampung on Friday, August 7, 2026, causing panic among citizens queuing to pay vehicle taxes. The fire originated from a thermis installation in the waiting room, resulting in the burning of at least seven electrical components.

A traffic police officer, Briptu Deni Imada, prevented the fire from spreading by immediately cutting the main power supply before using dry chemical powder to extinguish the flames. While no injuries were reported, the fire caused some mess in the service area and forced a temporary suspension of all Samsat Kalianda services as the system could not be operated.
