Samson Adamu appointed as CAF General Secretary
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially appointed Samson Adamu as its new General Secretary. Adamu, a Nigerian football administrator, has served in an acting capacity since March 2026 following the resignation of Veron Mosengo-Omba, who departed to become the president of the football federation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe stated that the appointment resulted from a comprehensive recruitment process that included wide advertisement and interviews with several candidates. Adamu has been with the organization for eight years, previously serving as the Director of Competitions and the Director of Tournaments and Events. In his new role, he will oversee day-to-day administration and support the implementation of CAF’s strategic priorities and football development across member associations.
