Samson Adamu confirmed as CAF General Secretary
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially appointed Nigerian official Samson Adamu as its General Secretary. Adamu, who has served in an acting capacity since March following the departure of Veron Mosengo-Omba, received formal confirmation of his appointment on November 1.
Adamu joined CAF in 2018, previously serving as the Director of Competitions and later as the Director of Tournaments and Events. He has played a significant role in organizing major continental competitions, including the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations. In his new role, he will manage the confederation’s daily administrative operations and assist in executing its strategic agenda.
Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima received a delegation led by National Sports Commission Chairman Malam Shehu Dikko to congratulate Adamu. Shettima described the appointment as evidence of Nigeria’s potential for international leadership in sports and emphasized football’s role as a unifying force within the country.
