Samson Tijani gains playing time in Podbrezova victory

Midfielder Samson Tijani continues his efforts to earn a return to the Nigerian national team following FK Zeleziarne Podbrezova’s 4-1 away victory against Michalovce in the Nike Liga. Tijani, who joined the Slovak club on a season-long loan from Czech side Dukla Prague in September, started the match on 24 October before being substituted at halftime.

Podbrezova secured the win behind a hat-trick from Balsa Mrvaljevic and a goal from Martin Chrien. Tijani, a former captain of Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets, is looking to establish himself in Slovakia to improve his prospects for a Super Eagles call-up. He has previously played for clubs including Red Bull Salzburg, TSV Hartberg, and Fredrikstad.
