Samsun agricultural project supports 1,757 producers with seeds and fertilizer

A collaborative agricultural support project in Samsun, Turkey, is providing essential resources to 1,757 producers across the Vezirköprü, Havza, and Ladik districts. The initiative is being implemented through a partnership between the Samsun Governor's Office Investment Monitoring and Coordination Presidency (YİKOB), the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, and the Samsun Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.

To mitigate losses caused by adverse weather and natural disasters, the project provides 75% subsidized certified wheat and canola seeds for use across 21,000 decares of land. Additionally, a total of 477 tons of fertilizer are being distributed, with the municipality providing 100% subsidies for the fertilizer component.

Specific regional distributions include: - Vezirköprü: 844 producers receiving 207 tons of fertilizer for 15,671 decares. - Havza: 510 producers receiving 95 tons of fertilizer and 100 tons of wheat seeds for 6,992 decares. - Ladik: 403 producers receiving 175 tons of fertilizer for 13,585 decares.

Samsun Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Kemal Yılmaz noted that wheat currently occupies 26% of the region's arable land and emphasized that increasing the use of certified seeds is key to boosting overall productivity and regional output.
