Samsun Çarşamba Airport to undergo major terminal expansion
Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has announced a major expansion project for Samsun Çarşamba Airport. The foundation for a new 29,120-square-meter domestic and international terminal building is scheduled to be laid on Thursday, September 3.
The project aims to increase the airport's annual passenger capacity from 2 million to 3 million. This expansion is a response to rising traffic, with projections suggesting that passenger and aircraft numbers could double by 2050.
In addition to the new terminal, the project includes expanding the apron area from 54,027 square meters to 71,211 square meters, increasing aircraft parking positions from 10 to 14, and significantly boosting parking capacity from 246 to 1,506 vehicles. Other infrastructure improvements will include a new power center, heating center, and apron barrier building.
