Samsun City Hospital inaugurated by President Erdoğan
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan officially inaugurated the Samsun City Hospital in the Canik district of Samsun. The facility represents a 17 billion TL investment and is designed to serve as a regional health hub. Built on a 234,000 square meter area, the hospital features 1,458 beds, 230 intensive care beds, 40 operating rooms, and 320 outpatient clinics. To ensure earthquake resilience, the structure was constructed using 1,027 seismic isolators.
During the ceremony, Erdoğan highlighted the transformation of Turkey’s healthcare system over the last 24 years, noting that the country has moved from a system where citizens struggled to access care to one that is globally recognized. He also mentioned that Turkey is working toward 21 more city hospitals with a combined capacity of over 26,000 beds.
In addition to healthcare, officials discussed regional infrastructure. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu noted that the Samsun-Ankara high-speed train project is underway, which is expected to reduce travel time to 2.5 hours once completed. Agriculture Minister İbrahim Yumaklı also noted that Samsun has received 108 billion TL in agricultural investments and support over the past 24 years.
