Samsun elementary school inspected over supplementary textbook ban

In Samsun, inspectors from the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance conducted a sudden search of an elementary school classroom during lessons. The inspection aimed to enforce a ban on the use of supplementary textbooks not provided by the Ministry of National Education.

During the process, inspectors reportedly ordered students to empty their bags and display all contents on their desks. This action has drawn significant backlash from parents, teachers, and education unions, who argue that the search violated student privacy and caused psychological trauma.

Parents and legal experts have raised questions regarding the legal authority of finance personnel to search students' personal belongings in a classroom setting. Following the incident, criminal complaints have been filed with the prosecutor's office, and families are calling for an administrative investigation by the Samsun Provincial Directorate of National Education and the Governor's Office.
